Each year the entire staff takes a one-day field trip to a vibrant city to review significant architecture and urban design. All together, our staff shares a day of travel, touring, learning, and connecting with one another. Our day in Chicago was one of architecture old and new.
The day started with studio member led walking tours of the University of Chicago providing a great start to the day and an important opportunity to study, discuss, and experience notable architecture.
From the Chicago Architecture Foundation’s boat tour our team observed the Chicago Riverwalk—a series of civic spaces, the Riverwalk is designed to accommodate diverse activities, from dining and performances to kayaking and fishing.
From meatpacking to gourmet restaurants and boutique hotels, touring the development of Fulton Market was a great way to end the day. Tours of GR333N and 210 North Carpenter preceded a rooftop cocktail hour at Virgin Hotels Chicago.
