Franke Holding AG, based in Aarburg, Switzerland is an industrial manufacturer with facilities scattered across the globe. While best known for its kitchen sinks, Franke offers a wide range of culinary products worldwide, for both residential and food service applications.
The design reflects their product line and infuses a European aesthetic. A metal panel system is employed, adhering to strict module and rhythm. This is further reflected, not only in the building’s curtain wall glazing system, but also the wood volumes which are used as building punctuation and warming elements. An organizational spine is employed as means to generate a hierarchy of spaces as they relate to the timeline of manufacture, from product development at the front of the building, through product testing at the building’s midpoint and terminating with distribution at the warehouse.
