HASTINGS hosts two sessions at the 2023 AIA Conference on Architecture

In June, the HASTINGS team traveled to San Francisco and hosted two sessions at AIA's annual National Conference on Architecture.

The first session featured HASTINGS' Principal David Bailey discussing the successful delivery of four new residential colleges on Vanderbilt University's campus.

David Bailey, Andy Cho, and Katie Schultz subsequently presented a session entitled, "From Boomers to Gen Z: Demystifying the Architectural Internship."

Over the past several years, HASTINGS has developed an annual internship program that is structured in process, yet experimental in nature. During their session, Andy, Katie and David discussed how we organize our nationwide call for entries, review portfolios and select candidates, and how we curate a detailed eight-week program that includes rotated modules through design, documentation, and construction administration.

Audience members were intrigued by how the firm has adjusted the selection process to attract a more diverse cohort and how we continue to evolve the program with a focus on equity, inclusion,
