Nicholas Van Son speaks at eCAADe

Nicholas Van Son wpresented his research paper titled "Hybrid Thermoplastic-Composite Building Components" at the Computer Aided Architectural Design in Europe Conference (eCAADe).

The conference was held at the Graz University of Technology, Austria, and the theme was 'Digital Design Reconsidered.' Nicholas' presentation focused on combining composite material systems with advanced large-scale 3D printing.

Nicholas grew up with a love for design and technology and combined these passions when studying architecture at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. During his education, he worked as a research assistant and became proficient in advanced fabrication using large-scale robotics and 3D printing. He graduated from UTK summa cum laude and received several awards recognizing his thesis, 'Machine & Craft,' which used ceramic 3D printing to study the relationship between handcraft and machine precision. Nicholas’s other research has focused on creating new architectural design tools and has been published in journals for computer-aided design.
