Thank you to the HASTINGS 2023 interns and co-ops!

As the summer is drawing to a close, we would like to take a moment to thank this awesome cohort of interns and co-ops for all of their hard work and dedication during our summer program. These young professionals brought a fresh and innovative perspective and their eagerness to learn, grow, and take on challenges was inspiring for our entire studio. To these exceptional architecture and interior design students, we extend our warmest wishes as they move forward in their academic careers. We are confident that they will continue to achieve great things and leave their mark on the industry.

Maddie Murphy is a Cincinnati native and a student at the University of Cincinnati. In the fall she will be going into her fourth year at the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP). She will be graduating in 2025 with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design and a minor in Marketing. Outside of work this summer, Maddie loves exploring Nashville and finding new vintage shops.

Hiroki Mishima was raised in Norman, Oklahoma and is a fifth year architecture student at the University of Oklahoma. Hiroki is an active Eagle Scout, and president of OU's National Organization for Minority Architects (NOMA) chapter.

Leo Xu is originally from Shenhen, China and moved to the US when he was 15 years old. He attended the University of Colorado Boulder and graduated in the fall of 2022. He holds a Bachelor of Environmental Design with an emphasis in Architecture Design. In Leo's undergraduate career, he was a member of the Diverse Scholar program, served as a teaching assistant, and volunteered with Habitat for Humanity.

Elle Renner grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada and went on to attend the University of Tennessee, Knoxville to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Interior Architecture. She is also a student-athlete competing on the diving team at UTK. Elle is entering her fifth year of school and is anticipated to graduate in 2024.
Rose Crawford us a rising fifth year architecture student at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She has worked at UTK's Fabrication Laboratory, interned at community farms and the sustainability department on campus, and spent last summer designing and fabricating furniture. Outside of the office, you can find her reading, baking, or attempting a crochet project.

Livi Bowers grew up on the beached of Jacksonville, Florida and is an architecture student at Tulane University with an anticipated graduation in 2025. Livi is a teaching assistant at Tulane, a peer mentor, member of Tulane Women in Architecture. Outside of architecture, Livi is also involved in Chi Omega fraternity and volunteers as a Freshman Orientation Leader.

Preston Gallagher is our spring and summer co-op and is currently on track to graduate from Kansas State University in May 2024 with a Master of Architecture. He is a member of the Architectural Student Advisory Board, university Honors Program, and a Resident Assistant. Outside of design, you can find Preston playing escape rooms, driving his car, watching football, or on a plane to explore his next location.

Gretchen Link is a Nashville native and currently studying at Lipscomb University, pursuing a Bachelors of Mechanical Engineering with an expected graduation in 2024. Studying at Lipscomb has given Gretchen the opportunity to study abroad in both Vienna, Austria, and Esslingen, Germany. Additionally, she has participated in engineering missions where she helped install PV panels and secure access to clean water and electricity to a rural school in Honduras and a hospital in Malawi.
