River North

Sited along the East Bank of Nashville’s Cumberland River the 125-acre River North Development District will redefine Nashville’s downtown. River North will establish a distinctive mixed-use district with places to live, work, stay, and play in an environment energized by outdoor activity that engages the river, parks, and greenways running the length of the development. The reinvigoration of this industrialized urban area transforms a district that links multiple neighborhoods and downtown Nashville.

Historically an underutilized industrial island within Nashville’s Downtown loop, activating this site provides a unique opportunity to create a cohesive urban core that connects neighborhoods on both sides of the river. The design of master plan for River North weaves together surrounding neighborhoods through the insertion of a pedestrian bridge over the Cumberland, landing at Taylor Street in Germantown, new vehicular and pedestrian connections to East Nashville and introduces new greenways and park space.

The first phase of the project — The Landings, a 40-acre tract located just north of a highly-popular recreational golf facility and the Jefferson Street Bridge — will feature restaurants, offices, retail, residential, and hospitality development. A network of outdoor spaces including nearly a mile of riverfront greenway, riverfront plaza space, and other parks, activate the water’s edge. Marina and rowing access, an open-air market, and waterfront dining create a vital destination for residents and visitors alike.
