Anna Yoder, Director of Planning and Urban Design at HASTINGS, is both an urban and architectural designer. This dual background allows her to use integrative systems thinking to work towards elegant, holistic solutions of complex problems. Her portfolio with HASTINGS includes the implemented master planning of over 220 acres within the Nashville Metropolitan Area. Her work with Metro Parks and Recreation and Greenways for Nashville has expanded our greenway system and charted a path for future growth. She has completed numerous successful rezoning processes and has thoughtfully crafted Urban Design Overlays (UDO) for over 60 properties. Anna was instrumental in the development of the River North connectivity plan and UDO, outlining the development requirements for 125 acres on the east bank of the Cumberland River—soon to be the home of Oracle’s new campus. Anna’s ability to bridge scales is evident in her work, and all aspects—from large-scale connectivity to architectural details—are utilized to create unique, thoughtful, exciting design solutions.

A few additional notable projects include the design of Peabody Union, Peabody Plaza, Asurion’s Gulch Hub, and Gulch Central. Each of these projects illustrates her expertise in complex, mixed-use developments. Peabody Union is a trail-oriented, mixed-use development with a distinguished collection of retail, 250,000 square feet of Class-A office space, 455,000-square-foot luxury high-rise residential tower, and 132,000 square-feet of open space in the heart of Nashville.

Outside of HASTINGS, Anna is an active member of ULI Nashville, where she currently serves on the Membership Committee and the WLI Steering Committee. Anna is also a member of the American Planning Association (APA), National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA), and the American Institute of Architects (AIA), where she serves on the Regional and Urban Design Committee. Additionally, she sits on the Executive Board of Daybreak Arts, a Nashville-based non-profit that empowers individuals impacted by homelessness to leverage their creative talent and enhance their quality of life.
